The idea to establish the ZMM Section arose in response to the recent intensification of activities at the intersection of mathematics and mechanics—among them the GPSon2M School, held at Wrocław University of Science and Technology (12–14 January 2025), and the GAMM 2025 conference organized at Poznań University of Technology (7–11 April 2025).
Objectives of the ZMM Section:
- To connect and foster synergy between two research methodologies: mathematics and mechanics.
- To integrate the communities of mathematicians and mechanicians in addressing problems in mechanics.
- To inspire new research directions (AI, Big Data, Digital Twins, Machine Learning).
- To undertake joint scientific research.
- To develop cooperation with international organizations, including GAMM, ECCOMAS, IACM, and ISIMM, which explicitly emphasize the synergy between mathematics and mechanics.
